Read

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

(Matthew 10:28)

Pray

Dear God,

You are a loving and merciful God, and I am grateful for the assurance and comfort that comes from the verse this verse. You remind us that we should not fear those who can harm the body, but rather fear the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Help me to remember that my ultimate allegiance and fear belong to You alone, and not to any earthly power or threat. Give me the strength and courage to stand firm in my faith, even in the face of adversity and persecution.

Please grant me the wisdom to keep my focus on eternal things and not be swayed by the temporary troubles of this world. Help me to live each day with an awareness of the significance of my soul and the choices I make. I pray for the grace to continually align my heart and mind with Your will, and to find peace and assurance in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
