May 16 – Evening

Read

And he prayed to the Lord and said, ‘O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.’

(Jonah 4:2)

Pray

Dear God,

You are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in love. Your mercy knows no bounds and Your patience with us is endless. I am humbled by Your unfailing love and forgiveness, even when I fall short and stray from Your path. Help me to embody Your love and compassion in my own life, and to extend grace to those around me as You have graciously extended it to me.

I pray that I may have a heart like Yours, filled with love and understanding for others. May I always seek to understand and show compassion, just as You do for me. Thank You for Your endless grace and mercy, and please help me to reflect these qualities in my thoughts, words, and actions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
